The instructions for post-laser skincare are very similar to those you might have received after getting your tattoo. To minimize the risk of infection and let the treated area heal faster, you should gently cleanse the affected area and apply a topical antibiotic ointment.
After a laser tattoo removal session you might notice a few things. The treated area might be swollen. The tattoo’s appearance might be pale or white, and the area may feel like you’ve suffered a sunburn. Over the course of a few weeks, the treated area might remain red and it might flake and peel. It might scab as well. The area should be handled gently – but don’t worry! These reactions are completely normal. They mean your body is hard at work healing, absorbing and breaking down ink fragments within the tattoo.
You might also experience lightening or darkening of the treated area for several months following a laser tattoo removal session. Make sure to protect the area from sun exposure until it’s completely healed.
