ACNE SCARS DON’T HAVE TO BE PERMANENT.
We all probably have a few scars on our faces or bodies. They’re a part of life! And while scars technically never go away, they can fade enough to be less visible.
How does scarring happen? Scarring is a natural part of the healing process after an injury and occurs when a wound heals after a cut, sore, burn, or other skin condition such as acne. The appearance of scars and their treatment depends on multiple factors. The depth and size of the wound or cut and the location of the injury matter. So do your age, genes, and skin tone.
Four Different Types of Scars
The main types of scars are:
Keloid Scars
These scars are the result of an overly aggressive healing process. They extend beyond the original injury. Over time, a keloid scar may hamper movement. Keloid scars are most common among people with dark skin.
Contracture Scars
If your skin has been burned, you may have a contracture scar. These scars tighten skin, which can impair your ability to move. Contracture scars may also go deeper, affecting muscles and nerves.
Hypertrophic Scars
These are raised, red scars that are similar to keloids but do not go beyond the boundary of the injury.
Acne Scars
If you’ve had severe acne, you probably have the scars to prove it. There are many types of acne scars, ranging from deep pits to scars that are angular or wavelike in appearance.
ACNE SCARS ARE NOT FOREVER
If you do have facial acne scars, don’t fret! Clear and Brilliant can help:
Clear + Brilliant
Clear + Brilliant minimizes the appearance of scars using a non-invasive diode laser. Its non-invasive laser technology gently resurfaces the top layer of the dermis by creating millions of microscopic treatment zones in the skin. The result? Smoother, softer and youthful-looking skin – and most importantly, significantly reduced facial scarring.
The treatment itself is simple. Each Clear + Brilliant procedure takes about twenty minutes. A topical numbing agent is applied to the face 30 minutes prior to the procedure. This is removed right before treatment begins. The actual laser session lasts a quick 20 minutes, and most patients experience only a warm tingling or prickling sensation with little discomfort. To ensure proper contact with the skin and uniform application to all treated areas, Clear + Brilliant technology uses a patented intelligent Optimal Tracking System. Directly after the Clear + Brilliant laser treatment, a cooling face mask is placed on the treated area for two to three minutes to reduce any residual sensation of heat.
Within as little as a week, patients notice brighter, softer, more refined and more youthful skin texture. And most importantly, less visible facial scarring!
